about

#newsongnovember 12 has arrived! It took me until today to finish recording so I’m back to being a half day behind! 🤠
Bear with me, I’m working on one for today!
Thank you!
Phew! I wish I could pause time.

#newsongnovember
Is a one month challenge to write and share a new song everyday during November. My friend Lily DeTaeye came up with idea and this is her fourth year doing it. So please make sure you follow Lily as well. It seemed like a great exercise and I’m so excited to share it.

lyrics

-No Master-
I was searching high and low
Heard about an old dojo
As unalloyed as remote
Sitting high up in the clouds
2 week climb all the dangers avowed
It’s too late to turn back now
When I finally reached the top
The master was waiting and he hands me a mop
Points to a dirty spot and says

You have to be your own master
I can only try to help you get there faster

So exhausted I dropped my head
Started tuning the mop instead
I was pluckin’ on a soggy string and singin’

I have trekked so far with no master
I’ve become more aware by living through disaster

I convinced him and we started a band
Touring the villages and lowlands
On his death-bed he took my hand and sang

You have shown this old master there’s so much more to master
Than to just prepare for what happens after

I retired to a solemn peak missing my friend every other beat
It’s so quiet I can hear every creak
Then a knock from a visitor surprised my dish to the floor
Grabbed my mop and answered the door...
