This morning I wrote this after reflecting on a conversation with a friend about being an insecure student and it’s impedance on learning and growing in and out of the classroom. This song is for anyone feeling like they are being squished into a box.
#newsongnovember
Is a one month challenge to write and share a new song everyday during November. My friend Lily DeTaeye came up with idea and this is her fourth year doing it. So please make sure you follow Lily as well. It seemed like a great exercise and I’m so excited to share it.

lyrics
-My Own Way-
I thought I was wrong
I thought I was dumb
I thought that I’d never get a job
But then I found my own way
And I’m so glad it’s my way
Because it don’t matter where you start, just stop and everything in the middle
And all those guiding voices in your head
You gotta trust em just a little
Because they can’t be wrong every single time especially that nagging one with the repeating line
All my rays are bright
Reflecting from my line of sight
(Because I found my own way...)
All my steps are in stride
Overwhelming pride
All my interests aligned
Focusing all the time
Because I found my own way...
