#newsongnovember 17 now spinning.
Y’all. I know. I still you owe you 2 songs and I plan to share them both before midnight
🤞🤞
I must confess I have been ignoring the true nature of this challenge by not posting a song each day. I’ve been tempted by the mistress of production and recording and over-stretching myself. These wax wings no longer support me.
So I’m changing my approach for the latter half of the month to presenting the songs stripped down and raw. I got carried away, thank you for your patience.
I wanted to write a song about anxiety without saying the word “anxiety.” I discovered “solicitude” and that worked way better.
Solicitude means a state of excessive concern and I just learned that today. Here’s a song to celebrate it!
#newsongnovember
Is a one month challenge to write and share a new song everyday during November. My friend Lily DeTaeye came up with idea and this is her fourth year doing it. So please make sure you follow Lily as well. It seemed like a great exercise and I’m so excited to share it.

lyrics
-Solicitude-
If you’re still holding on, squeeze a little tighter
The sun is getting brighter with no visor
If you’re stocking up get a little lighter
You don’t always have to hide ‘r become a miser
Oh, I see worry and I feel hurried along
Solicitude
In a care-free world
Is like holding up the room
While everyone else twirls
And the lows
Are on the rise
Seems everyone has picked their sides
Oh, I see envy and I see concern and it shows
Oh, I see scarcity, I see fear of the unknown
Solicitude
In a care-free world
Is like holding up the room
While everyone else twirls
And the lows
Are on the rise
Seems everyone has picked their sides
Oh I see judgments, I see reluctance
I see tension and apprehension
I see heart-ache and the same old mistake
Defensive stances, No second chances
(And) I want to make it OK
Solicitude
In a care-free world
Is like holding up the room
While everyone else twirls
And the lows
Are on the rise
Seems everyone has picked their sides
